  1. Here are the 13 reports of police misconduct tracked for Saturday, April 12, to Monday, April 14, 2014:

    • Chester, West Virginia: A police officer [Officer Eric Maruca] was indicted on one count of displaying obscene matter to a minor, a felony. He allegedly took a nude picture of himself and sent it to a 16-year-old girl. Her mother filed the original complaint.
    • Los Angeles County, California: The sheriffs’ department [(perps -- three deputies -- not identified] opened fired and killed a man [John Winkler] after they mistook him for a suspect [Alexander Tor McDonald] in a stabbing incident. He was actually a victim of the suspect.
    • Adams County, Colorado: A deputy [Deputy Henry Ford] was arrested on child sex assault allegations.
    • Update: Brusly, Louisiana (First reported 02-07-14): The police chief [Chief Jamie Whaley] has been indicted with one count of malfeasance in office and one count of theft over $500. Both are felonies.
    • Annapolis, Maryland: A police officer [Captain Christopher A. Amoia] has been suspended after he was charged with second-degree assault in an alleged domestic dispute.

    • Sandusky, Ohio: A state trooper [Sergeant Ricky Vitte Jr.] has been indicted on a charge of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. The officer has denied the allegations.
    • Update: Los Angeles, California (First reported 02-19-14): A police officer [Officer Manuel Bernardo Ortiz] convicted of perjury and conspiracy after lying about the details of an arrest in court was sentenced to community labor and three years’ formal probation. [Other former officers also convicted: Officer Evan Samuel, Officer Richard Amio]
    • Lake County, Oregon: A sheriff’s deputy [Deputy Kenneth Turkle] has turned himself in following an investigation that he had a sexual relationship with a missing teenage girl [Marriah F. Andrews]. He resigned following the revelation of the investigation.
    • Update: Newport News, Virginia (First reported 04-10-14): A police officer [Officer Christopher B. Hancock] already charged in a domestic violence case was arrested again. He was charged with violating a protective order.
    • Whitehouse, Texas: A woman [Melissa Bonnette] claims she was unfairly arrested for failing to stop for a police officer [Officer Shawn Johnson]. She says the cop was acting suspicious and she felt threatened, so she walked away from him. He then tackled and arrested her for walking on the wrong side of the road.

    • North Charleston, South Carolina: The family [Carlton Pringle Sr., Dominique Chisholm] of a teenager [Carlton Pringle] who was shot by police [Officer Anthony Dipaolo] has filed an excessive force lawsuit. The suit says the officer shot the boy in the back while he was running away, and then, after running up to him laying on the ground, fired another seven shots while “quite literally hovering over him.”
    • Denton County, Texas: A sheriff’s deputy [Joshua G. Laningham] has been charged with official oppression and theft after being accused of stealing $1,700 in cash from two men [victims not named] while in uniform.
    • Mobile, Alabama: A police officer [Officer Kevin Kelly] is being punished after a shooting incident left one dog [owner: Mike Yeager] dead and another wounded in their owner’s fenced backyard.
