An agent with the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation began interviewing potential witnesses Sept. 30 after allegations surfaced that Weber had sex with an 18-year-old woman while on duty and gave her alcohol. A woman filed an incident report with the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s office claiming she had slept with patrol lieutenant John Weber on numerous occasions and that he’d supplied alcohol and beer to both her and another 18-year-old woman. Investigators were able to corroborate her claims through motel receipts and more than 600 Facebook messages, according to the incident report. On at least one occasion, the woman claimed she and Weber had sex while he was on duty at a trailer house east of Sallisaw.​
